Forensic Evidence Intake Toronto
Strict laboratory chain of custody guidelines, legal protocols, and secure packaging workflows for submitting digital evidence exhibits to our primary forensic facility.
1. Pre-Log Consultation & Case Reference
Mandatory Initial Contact
Before dispatching any digital media, corporate counsel or law enforcement agencies must contact our office directly to review case parameters. This ensures the acquisition satisfies evidentiary benchmarks and registers your official Case Reference Number. Unscheduled submissions lacking a reference log will be rejected at our facility dock.
2. Official Evidence Shipping Hub Address
Target Processing Laboratory
All authorized legal exhibits, hard drives, and mobile devices undergoing forensic triage must be explicitly addressed to our central processing facility:

3. Tamper-Proof Packaging & Chain of Custody
Physical & Static Isolation
Digital components—especially raw eMMC/UFS micro-chips or solid-state media—are highly vulnerable to physical shock and electrostatic discharge. Isolate the asset inside a certified anti-static bag, encase it heavily in thick bubble wrap, and pack it tightly inside a rigid, heavy-duty shipping box to eliminate internal movement.
Tamper-Evident Sealing & Documentation
Seal all outer box seams with specialized tamper-evident security tape to immediately expose any transit interference. Capture clear, high-resolution photographs of the device and its final packaging arrangement before sealing. Enclose a signed copy of your Chain of Custody (COC) log and the case manifest sheet inside the package. The legal chain of custody instantiates the exact second the box is sealed.
High-Security Combination Lockbox
For high-stakes corporate intellectual property or sensitive criminal defense matters, place the pre-packaged media inside a physical combination lockbox within the shipping container. Set a unique combination and communicate the code separately to our intake officer via an encrypted voice channel or PGP email.
4. International & Cross-Border Customs Compliance
CRITICAL: Customs Valuation & Chain of Custody Preservation
If you are dispatching legal exhibits from the United States or any international origin outside of Canada, you must explicitly declare the package contents as: "Defective media for forensic evaluation - No commercial value" and declare a total valuation of strictly $10 USD for the entire shipment on the commercial invoice. Failure to enforce this specific parameter triggers arbitrary border holds, custom tariffs, and processing delays, where customs agents may physically tear open the package—permanently breaking the legal Chain of Custody before arrival.
5. Routing Logistics & Forensic Billing Policy
Approved Courier Networks
We strongly recommend utilizing FedEx Ground for shipments originating in the United States, and DHL for European or international logistics. Always select the Overnight Priority and Direct Signature Required options to maintain tracking integrity. Once shipped, email the active tracking sequence to info@datarescuelabs.com.
Non-Contingent Forensic Fee Structure
To maintain absolute scientific objectivity and legal admissibility in court, all forensic evidence intake, data carving, and validation workflows are billed exclusively on a professional fixed project or hourly rate. Unlike consumer data recovery operations, forensic services do not operate under contingency or "No-Data, No-Fee" models, ensuring our laboratory findings remain untainted and completely independent.
